Student disability hearing at Lismore

The parliamentary committee inquiring into the education of students with a disability or special needs in New South Wales schools will hold a regional public hearing in Lismore on Thursday June 8, 2017. The committee will hear from a wide range of stakeholders at this hearing, including teachers, parents, an academic and a local representative of the NSW Department of Education. The Chair of Portfolio Committee No. 3 – Education, the Hon Lou Amato MLC, said: ‘‘The committee received a number of submissions from stakeholders based on the New South Wales north coast. The hearing in Lismore will give us the opportunity to hear directly about the issues faced by students with disability and special needs, their families, and schools, in this area”. The hearing will take place in the Fountain Room, Lismore City Hall, Lismore, from 11.15am. The hearing is open to the public. The committee will hold a final public hearing for the inquiry on Friday June 23, 2017, in Sydney. The schedule for the public hearing, along with other information about the inquiry, including the terms of reference and submissions, will be available on the committee’s website.
