SPAR Maclean has done it again. The locally owned supermarket collected a swag of awards on Thursday, 16 June during SPAR’s regional meeting, at Coffs Harbour. Owner of SPAR Maclean Bob Little said that out of around 40 other SPAR stores in the region, SPAR Maclean took out Grocery Department of the Year, Fruit and Veggie Department of the Year and Deli Department of the Year. “We were also nominated and were finalists in the Dairy and Frozen Department of the Year,” said Mr Little. SPAR Maclean not only took out these awards but topped it off with the coveted regional ‘SPAR Store of the Year’ award. Mr Little said that this award will see the Maclean supermarket go through to the National SPAR annual awards, to be held on the Gold Coast at the end of July. “For me, it’s recognition of the dedication of our staff,” he said. “It’s confirmation of their level of commitment. “It’s the passion that they demonstrate in providing such an outstanding service to the people of Maclean.” New distribution for SPAR SPAR Australia Ltd has recently signed a national distribution contract with Lismore based Flynn Transport. SPAR Australia Marketing Manager Rebecca Andrew said that the company were really pleased to have partnered with the local Northern Rivers business. “Flynn Transport will service our (SPAR) stores,” she said. “This transport business also mirrors our local and family business values. “Flynn Transport has purchased a new truck and it is the first SPAR branded truck in Australia, said Ms Andrew. The truck made its first delivery to Maclean SPAR on Wednesday, 15 June and the Maclean store was the first of the SPAR supermarkets to receive a delivery. In attendance at this historic event were: Lou Jardin (Managing Director of SPAR Australia), Ian Sharples (General Manager – Warehouse & Logistics for SPAR Australia), Tony Flynn (Managing Director of Flynn Transport) and Bob Little (Store Owner SPAR Maclean and SPAR Guild Deputy Chair).
