Friday 15th July – men’s mixed barefoot bowls: A lovely afternoon, with little breeze and the Green running beautifully. Four rinks of social mixed bowling, all Triples matches. Sunday 17th July – social bowlo: On a morning that began with heavy showers the weather did an about face clearing nicely to allow two social matches and two Mixed championship games to be played. The first championship round was a fours match with some good bowls played but giving a well deserved win on Rink (2) of 20-14 to Merle King, George Mallison, Leanne Perrett & Lee Bond over Dee Allison, Mark Revell, Enid McKew & Kaine VanBeek. The second Mixed Pairs championship round was a nail biter, with the scores even all the way up unto the last end where on Rink (1) Candy Nixon & Dan Barker took the game from Anna Bunn & Mick Ransome by 3 shots to finalise the score at 18-15. Great game to watch with some top shots played by all players. The Sunday social bowls fielded two rinks; one game of Pairs and one of Triples using a swinging lead. The results of the two matches were: Rink (3). P Wall (swinging lead ), L Betts & R Holmes d P Wall (SL), J Betts & P Desborough 17-14; Rink (4). H Nickless & J Thorpe d D O’Brien & A O’Brien 28-14.
