Sonia and Marlene feature at Ferry Park
Ferry Park Gallery Artist of the Month for August features Sonia Stanton and Marlene Sheehan with a stunning display of patchwork items.
Both Sonia and Marlene have been a member of the Maclean Patchwork and Quilters Group and the Lower Clarence Arts and Crafts Association for over 20 years. Marlene has completed an Advanced Certificate in Commercial Needlework through TAFE. She has specialised in candlewicking for over 30 years and finds hand appliqué and patchwork very enjoyable.
Sonia says “I have been sewing since I was a child; my grandmother taught me how to use her old machine. I started doing patchwork in 1994 and I still love it.
I have been a member of our Gallery since 1995, where I am the Gallery Co-ordinator. This is an interesting position where I display exhibiting members work to its best advantage. I hope you enjoy looking at some of my latest work”
Both ladies are very experienced in their craft and have produced some stunning things for the display. Marlene has made a beautiful queen sized quilt made from black and white fabric with a touch of red running through it. There are smaller items too, so why not pop along to Ferry Park Gallery and buy a nice gift for someone special or just treat yourself.
