September’s confidential CVC business

Clarence Valley Council (CVC) is negotiating with Coffs Harbour City Council regarding “receipt of waste” from the neighbouring local government; however, any detail of what was considered at the September 22 CVC meeting is confidential.

“The report contains information that would, if disclosed, confer a commercial advantage on a person with whom the council is conducting (or proposes to conduct) business,” the meeting’s minutes state.

“The General Manager advises that the following matter be dealt with in Closed Session as the matter and information are confidential in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 Section: 10A 2 (c)”

Councillors also considered a code of conduct complaint investigation report during their confidential session, which was heard under section 10A 2 (i) of the Local Government Act.

“The report contains information on alleged contraventions of any code of conduct requirements applicable under section 440,” the meeting’s minutes state.

Councillors Williamson, Ellem, Clancy, Lysaught, Baker and Kingsley voted in favour of keeping the items confidential; councillors Toms and Novak left the meeting during the closed session; the mayor, Jim Simmons, was absent.
