Scarffe and Wright take out Foursomes Championships

Forty four players contested he gold braid 27 hole championship event on Sunday in near perfect conditions with the winners of the day returning a great 120 gross. Captain Glenn Scarffe and promising junior Mackenzie Wright took home the silverware with 120 gross narrowly beating last year’s champs Kevin Shanahan and Ron Jeffries who returned 123 shots. The winner of the Net were the team of John Daley and John Smail with 107 ½ from Paul Reid and Rowdy Niland 111 ½. Thanks to all who participated. Thursdays Stableford One hundred and fifty players graced our course with many southern visitors lapping up the sunshine; A Grade winner was Greg Starr who returned 38pts from Kev Shanahan with 37 on a c/b from Sid Erskine 37. A Reserve was Max Sweetman who had the score of the day with 43pts from Robert Kearton 38pts on a c/b from Rowdy Niland 38pts. B Grade was won by Des Hall with 42 points from Kevin Moran 37 on a c/b from Peter Gwynne 37pts. C Grade winner was Brian Dwyer with 42pts from Bruce Petith 2nd with 39pts and 3rd went to Terry Wilson with 38pts on a c/b. NTPs were won by Andrew Bennett on the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd at 268cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th went to David Miles at 324cm, the SeaFire 10th was Peter Jarman at 289cm, the 12th Yamba Barber Shop hole was Rohan Smiles 114cm and the 17th SeaFire hole was Max Sweetman at 180cm. Saturdays Medal Round One hundred and forty five golfers fought it out for the August monthly medal and with the score and the story of the day being our retired Captain David Miles a proud A Grader returning a memorable round of 106 hits, yes that’s 94 net, well played David keep it up. And for those who played a little better they were, in A Grade Bruce Lulham letting the handbrake slip and returning a 68 nett taking out the medal from big hitting Paul Thompson 71 nett who had it in the bag until a wayward tee shot on the 9th losing a ball and having a triple, 3rd went to Warren Thoms with 74 nett. Paul Thompson won the gross with 78 hits. A Reserve winner was Brian Wilson from Kiama with a 70 nett 2nd and the medal went to Robb Robertson who had 71 nett and 3rd was Graham Niland with 72 nett. The Gross winner was Brian Wilson with 87 hits. B Grade certificate winner was Gus Young with 68 nett from Peter Julian 70 nett and 3rd went to Rex Bolte with 71 nett on a c/b. Gus won the gross with 89 hits. C Grade medal was won by Dundee Ayton with a great 68 nett, 2nd went to Peter O’Hanlon 70 nett and 3rd was Kevin Molloy 71 nett, Col Ayton won the gross with 96 hits. NTPs were taken home by Garry Payne on the John Wright Pro Shop 3rd at 181cm, the Peter Campbell 9th was Warren Thomas 332cm, the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 10th went to David Graham 153cm, the 12th SeaFire hole was Mark Rae who probably used a 64 degree lob wedge at 154cm, the 17th Bene Scene hole went to Speed Jones at 115cm and the 2nd shot 17th went to Lary Dorman at 196cm.
