A talented young photographer from Grafton has just returned from Adelaide, after having his photography judged in the Australian Geographic photography competition. Samuel Eleveld, a year 7 student at St Andrews Christian School, travelled to Adelaide for the announcement of the finalists, in the competition. Samuel said that he had a great experience entering such a prestigious competition. “It was great to meet with other photographers and to see the quality of their work,” Samuel said. “I also had the opportunity to meet one of the heads of Australian Geographic. “It was awesome to see my image up there on display, as it was an impressive competition with experienced photographers,” he said. Samuel said that his interest in photography began around the age of seven. “Over the years I’ve entered [my photography] in several competitions and Grafton Shows.” “I was encouraged to enter this competition by my parents.” Samuel plans to keep his photography as a hobby and continue to enter more competitions. “I’m looking forward to pursuing my photography and I may consider it as career in the future, but for now I’m seizing every opportunity to get good quality images,” he said.
