Qualifying Round for GNSW 4bbbvpar Classic

Fifty four Yamba lady golfers contested this event last Wednesday with the daily winners being Moira Morrow and Kathy Smailes with a great score of +9. Runners-up were D Robbs and Tricia Gosling +6, whilst running third were Lyn Rowland and Margaret Solomon +5c/b – which was the score which limited the ball run down. Winners of the pins were Kathie Smailes on 3 – Yamba Medical Centre, Deirdre Gough 3/23 – Yamba Florist, Trish Hall 9 – Yamba Pro Shop, Janelle Carpenter 10 – Yamba Fair Butchery, D Robb 12 – The Shoe Boutique, Carrie Aitken 17 – Clovelly Fashions and Wendy O’Brien 17/2 – The Block. Those qualifying for the Classic which is to be played at Maclean on September 25 are Margaret Solomon and Lyn Rowland, Maggie Julian and Jo Petith and Carolyn Chester and Pauline McKinnon. The 9 holers’ comp was represented by 17 ladies and was won by Jennifer Moody with an impressive 20 points. Winning the raffle was Toni Elliott, and other lucky draw winners were Carolyn Chester for Anne’s Pearls, Magda Cawthorne for Civic Video, Tricia Gosling for The Friendly Grocer, Jane Bonner for Priceline Pharmacy and Penny Cope for Yamba Florist. There was no ladies competition last Friday, due to the Veterans’ Week of Golf which appears to have been a great success. Winning from 11 players in the Saturday comp was Carrie Aitken 35c/b from consistent contender Julie Campbell. Jenny Moody was the clever winner of the nearest to the pin. Good luck to one and all when playing the 6th GNSW Monthly Medal next Wednesday. Pauline McKinnon
