Peter Martin is Coutts Crossing Ricochet Champion

The Coutts Crossing Club Ricochet Champion for 2020 is Peter Martin, dominating the tournament and winning all his games.

Despite winning a number of State tournaments this is the first time he has won a club championship in five years trying. Runner up was Gillian Martin who edged out Rusty Case 9-8 in the final game.We had an audience for the final games, a pair of wedge-tailed eagles watched us for a long time.

GC saw a full house Monday and special care about social distancing. Royce Wilson distanced himself from the rest, being the only player unbeaten. Under glorious blue skies the lawns were extremely fast and many excellent shots were made, and loudly celebrated. Phil Jordan had the only hoop to hoop, and Helyn Davison jawed a ball from 22 yards.

There was some brilliant play on Thursday. John Hall, Pamela Gauci and Phyl Harrison were flawless, all victories. Royce Wilson managed unusual scores, losing 7-1 twice. But the plaudits go to the show shots. Paul Schofield had his first jump shot, Pamela Gauci also had one, but pride of place goes to May Ford. She has tried for some time and finally at 95 years of age, had a successful jump shot. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

Saturday saw just four players brave the light rain, but as soon as it became heavy, that was that, and home they went.
