Palm Lake golf – splendid Steve Dorrell

It was good to get back on the golf course after the atrocious weather last week. Even so it was a little brisk with a breeze that could have been classified as lazy.

We played the back nine and despite the carts on paths edict the course was in fine condition for those of us who could stay on the fairways. One of those was Steve Dorrell, returning a splendid 25 points to take first prize. Second was the ever-reliable Ken Hall on 21 points and it was a major effort to determine third from three players on 20. Bob Oddy, Bruce Douglass and Chris Sharp all finished on this score with Bob just claiming the place on a countback.

NTPs went to Steve Dorrell for the 10th and 12th, while Bob Oddy had a great putt on the 17th to take the money there.

One absence from our group was a regular, Alex Miltiadou who has spent over a week in hospital with pneumonia and while there had a heart attack for good measure. Fortunately, I can report that he is home again and although it will be some time before he will be challenging us on the course, he is back to his old bright and breezy self, even though a little weak. He is going to let us know when he is up to a social nine holes on an afternoon as his dialysis time has been extended and he will not make our normal tee time on a Tuesday. Get well soon mate.
