Osprey RSL Day Club

Hi everyone.

My informants have provided me with much good news. I was delighted to learn that we had three new members join us on Friday. A very big welcome to June, her daughter Ann, and Ann’s husband Geoff. I believe they really enjoyed the day and were enthused enough to take home a game of Rummikub to hone their skills. Watch out next week folks; they may be a force to be reckoned with!

I do believe that makes five new members in the past month, so that is most encouraging indeed. I wish to thank existing members for making new members feel so welcome. It is the most important first step to what we as a club strive to achieve. I encourage you all to remember when you first joined Osprey, and how daunting it may have seemed on that first day. Mind you, some of you will have to cast your mind back 20 years or more. No. I didn’t make a typo. We have members and volunteers in our group today that began 22 years ago, so that must tell you all we are doing something magical. Our pledge to you is to provide you with friendship, fun, good food (no wine ha, ha), knowledge and lots of loving care. Your pledge to us, is that you will always make new members welcome at your table and blend them gently and warmly into our fold.

First prize of the day went to Tom our fearless leader who thought we were trying to tell him something in the nicest possible way. He received a shower pack with gel, soap, toothbrushes etc

Free days went to Roy and David P. All the men were the winners until Bev M got the booby prize of band aids in the Pick-a-Box draw.

And those people who missed out on their super-duper can/jar opening freebie were given theirs. Many thanks, I received mine too through the underground network.

I can’t sign off without mentioning the fabulous roast lamb and mint sauce baked dinner you had on Friday. Congratulations and thanks to the chef and staff.

That’s all folks.
