Osprey RSL Day Club

My sincere apologies for not writing my editorial last week. It was a combination of two things; a senior’s moment and an urgent desire to clean my ceiling fans. Those of you who have had a cataract removed will know what it is to see through new eyes just how much you didn’t see before the surgery. Wow. I am going to be Spring cleaning for weeks to come.

I trust you all enjoyed the toe tapping music of ‘Happy Dayz’ last Friday. Peter and Nancy really have put together a great little show, combining some comedy along with many songs from different eras. It was great fun to reminisce and sing along with the karaoke screen. YES. I could actually read it with my new eye! And YES, I know I am tone deaf…… but I had fun singing along. Hope you did too.

It was great to welcome John to Osprey last week and I hope you enjoyed the day John and will be back to share all the friendship our club has to offer. It is just wonderful to see that we have had three new gentlemen join our throng in the past month. I was anxious to meet Peter N as he joined whilst I was away, and I felt certain that he was the brother of one of my old school friends. Peter confirmed my suspicions, and we shared several stories. Small world, isn’t it?

As great as it was to welcome new members last week, it was so very sad to say farewell to Lynne L who has been a member for many years. Lynne who has been ill for some time decided it was time to move back to Geelong to be amongst family and friends. We wish her and Chris a perfect transition to their new life. God bless.

Leanne had her beautiful grandchildren with her last week, and as always, they were great little helpers. So much so that Lilly Christie (granddaughter) won the Sweet and Savoury prize. Chris and Sean each won a Free Day Pass. And lucky Joe won the Pick-A-Box which contained cleaning gear…….. wish I had won that!

October 7 is our BBQ at the Grafton District Anglers Fishing Club starting at 9.30am. You all have the information sheet so just consult that for details. If in any doubt, please ring Leanne 0413 101 518 or Bev 0428 117 959. Do bring a hat and sunscreen…… and a jacket in case the weather changes. A collective prayer for a bright sunny day may be just what we need at the moment. No matter what the weather is, we will make it a fun day.
