North East Waste Group to ‘fight’ food wastage on the north coast

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has granted the maximum $250,000 to the North East Waste Group (NEWG), to coordinate a Love Food Communities program, part of the EPA’s Love Food Hate Waste initiative.

The waste group will deliver the program over two-years, with an aim to prevent wasting food in homes and businesses.

The plan will include the delivery of the Love Food Hate Waste Food Smart and Your Business is Food programs to support local households and businesses to tackle food waste and educate them on how working together as a community can make a difference.

The program will be rolled out across North East Waste group’s member councils, including Ballina Shire, Byron Shire, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore City, Richmond Valley and Tweed Shire.

More details will be released when the project is launched in the New Year.
