NORPA’s LIFT workshop for young people

April 17 -21

NORPA is partnering with Strings Attached physical theatre company to lead a free workshop program as part of NORPA Makers Hub at Lismore Showgrounds.

The first stage of this project is a week-long workshop where young people (aged 14 to 21 years) interested in performance will participate in harness-based aerial choreography and ground based physical theatre.

The participants will be guided through training, improvisation and choreographic techniques to develop a versatile performance style and build rapport with each other. The week will culminate in a short showing of what you’ve learnt with friends and family.

NORPA free performance workshops for local creatives.

May, 2023

Throughout May at the NORPA Makers Hub at Lismore Showground, leading artists from around Australia will facilitate free workshops in dance, theatre making and physical theatre, both for professional and community level actors, dancers, theatre makers and movement artists.

Workshop leaders include Kaz Therese (NSW), Jenni Large (TAS), Emma Saunders (NSW) Nigel Poulton (NSW), Thomas ES Kelly (QLD), Julian Louis (NORPA’s Artistic Director) and Margot Politis of Milk Crate Theatre (NSW), with more announcements to come!

NORPA Creative Speed Dating event

The NORPA Makers Hub at Lismore Showground is hosting a fun, free ‘Creative Speed Dating’ evening event on Thursday 25 May for all local creatives working in any discipline to gather, connect, share their practice and find out more about each other in an entertaining, informal way. Who knows what collaborations may come about as a result?

Hiromi Hotel: Rainbow is a sensory installation that takes inspiration from the rainbow, drawing on the colours and symbology of this natural wonder. Hiromi Tango’s therapeutic process involves gently wrapping fabric to build twisting organic forms and create spaces for reflection and human connection. Visitors are welcome to create their own pieces from material provided at the gallery to add to the artwork. 

Hiromi Tango is a revered contemporary artist based at Tweed Heads. Her work has been exhibited at major national art museums and regional galleries across Australia and at international exhibitions in the United States, Belgium, Dubai, and the Asia Pacific.

Mathew Daymond: The Complacency of Man and Machine

Mathew Daymond is an artist, musician, poet, and instrument player. Living with the gift of difference, he makes art his way, exploring many ideas and processes, including nature’s beauty and mystery, narrative and old-world images, and the rich possibilities of collage, paint, words, and found materials.
