President Helen Cashel welcomed 28 members to the recent election of officers and AGM recently. A special welcome to Ann Dinham, Zone Councillor, who officiated at the elections. Helen also welcomed Faye Stone as a new member to the Club. Although we are a small club with 33 members, we work very hard raising funds for the Smith Family ‘Learning for Life’ programme and would welcome any members of the public who would like to attend a meeting to discover how they can also help. The committee for 2016 are as follows: President Helen Cashel, Vice President Norma Merlino, Secretary Alison O’Brien, Asst Secretary Vorna Cooper, Treasurer Helen E Smith, Asst Treasurer Elaine Stephenson, Programme Officers Sandra Simpson and Diane Moran and Publicity Lyn Irving. We have still to elect a delegate, a very integral part of our team. Eighteen members joined with 273 members and friends from the Clarence Valley and afield to celebrate International Women’s Day in Yamba. The committee are to be congratulated on the hard work involved in putting together such a cohesive occasion. The guest speakers were extremely interesting, widening our knowledge of the current refugee situation, together with domestic violence and the help there is for both. The entertainers were excellent, with a special enjoyment of our own Laura O’Brien in the zumba demonstration. The next meeting of our club will be held on Tuesday, 22 March at the Grafton District Services Club in Mary Street with guest speaker Yvonne McSwan with her miniature dolls. Anyone unable to attend or any members of the public wishing to attend must ring Vorna on 6642 4719 by 9am Monday for catering purposes. A reminder that lunch has increased to $23.50. Helen Smith
