North Coast Football has completed trials for its player development program, with over 150 players offered spots on the pitch in 2021.

Players will participate in season-long skills development while others will compete for North Coast in the Northern NSW National Premier League Youth Program.
Head of player and coach development at NCF, Alex Nolan, said he liked what he saw in the trials. “The quality has been excellent, and we’re really happy with what we’ve had so far.
“For the skill acquisition, we’re taking boys and girls from the ages of 10 to 12 looking for players that we can really grow in the skill and technical aspects of the game.
“In the NPL, we’re looking more so towards developing a footballer who could one day potentially go through the A-Leagues or Matildas and Socceroos.
“We’ll go into offseason where the players will do an offseason program before coming back mid-January for pre-season to hit the ground running with games all the way through the 26 week season,” Mr Nolan said.
Striker Ollie Angus Brown is lining up for his fourth season in NPL. He’s hoping he will one day play in the A-Leagues.
“I love the good competition and playing at a higher level than at club. I’ve played all over the field, but now I’ve just been made a striker. I love it. It’s good. I just love playing with my mates, and I like just being outside and playing soccer. It’s just really fun.
Angus-Brown also has an eye on the future and is promising more effort in 2022. “I will try a bit harder try and hopefully get selected by someone.,” Angus-Brown said.
The North Coast Football (NCF) player development program has two streams. The Skill Acquisition Phase Program is for 10 to 12-year-olds who undertake two additional training sessions each week but play with their clubs at weekends. In the NPL program, players join North Coast teams aged 13 to 16 for weekly competitions.
Over 60 players will join the NPL Youth Program, and a further 90 players will take part in the Skill Acquisition Phase Program.
