Naidoc Week funding now available

Applications are now open for funding to support activities and events in NSW during NAIDOC Week, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements.

The theme of this year’s NAIDOC is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! – a strong call to action for everyone to become involved and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and communities.

The $250,000 NAIDOC Grants program will support arts, performance, community and cultural organisations with funding from $500 to $3,000 to be involved in NAIDOC Week, which starts Sunday, 3 July 2022.

Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Ben Franklin said NAIDOC Week is one of the most important weeks of celebration and a great opportunity for all Australians to learn and celebrate the oldest, continuing culture in the world, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, right here in our own backyard.

“NAIDOC Week is a great chance for all Australians to come together and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and connection with Country,” Mr Franklin said.

“NAIDOC Week is about affecting systematic change, truth-telling, calling out racism and honouring those who have driven and led change.

“Aboriginal Affairs NSW’s NAIDOC grant program provides a great opportunity for Aboriginal-run and controlled organisations to participate and be part of this terrific annual event.

“I encourage everyone to participate and celebrate NAIDOC week this year in your local community.”

Funding can be used for community festivals and fun days, public exhibitions, gatherings, cultural workshops, NAIDOC-themed activities or competitions, and many other activities between 3 July 2022 and 30 November 2022.

Applications close on Thursday, April 14 2022.
