Motorists advised of changed traffic conditions on the Gwydir Highway at Bellbird Cut

Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists changed traffic conditions will be in place on the Gwydir Highway at Bellbird Cut, between Grafton and Glen Innes, while slope stabilisation work is carried out. Maintenance work commenced on Monday 18 January and will continue through to Friday 4 March between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am and 1pm on Saturdays weather permitting. Work will involve removing vegetation from the slope face and removing loose rocks with an excavator to help prevent future rock falls. Vehicles wider than four metres will be unable to use the Gwydir Highway on the Gibraltar Range from Monday 18 January to Friday 4 March and will need to plan an alternative route. Motorists using the Gwydir Highway during this work can expect delays of up to five minutes. Motorists are asked to follow all directions from traffic control and adhere to reduced speed limits. Road users should allow extra travel time and follow all traffic signs.
