Motorfest just gets Stronger and Stronger

This year the Grafton Vintage Motor Vehicle Club is celebrating its 60th year and the club has started planning to put on Motorfest 23 on Sunday August 27 to help celebrate this outstanding achievement.

The GVMVC was formed on March 14, 1962, when a group of car enthusiasts got together and started the club. The first meeting was held at the Grafton Tennis Club rooms and a lasting legacy has been left by the dedicated foundation club members.

The Club experienced some difficulties in the late sixties and went into recess between 1966 and 1970. The club membership also fell to only 7 financial members in 1987/88, but the founding members remained committed to the vision and would be extremely proud to see the club not only survive, but thrive, and reach this 60th anniversary milestone with over 400 financial members enjoying the pleasure of vintage and classic cars.

Motorfest events have been run by the club since 2018. Motorfest 22 was an outstanding success with over 300 vintage and classic cars, race cars, vans and motorcycles on show at Jabour Park with 182 entries for judges to inspect. We had a constant stream of visitors on the day with families enjoying a great day out. The Club donated $2,000 to the Grafton Base Hospital Ladies Auxiliary from the proceeds from Motorfest 22.

The Club would like to see even more vintage and classic vehicles and visitors at Jabour Park, South Grafton, on Sunday August 27 at Motorfest 23 to help us celebrate our 60th year.

Motorfest 23 will have something for everyone:

  • Classic and vintage cars, race cars, motorcycles & vans – for the enthusiast and those who appreciate beautiful machines.
  • Entertainment for all the family, including live music, Bonsai displays and also face painting for the kids.
  • Food and drinks will be available around Jabour Park with coffee van, drink stalls, ice cream vendor and the Club canteen.
  • SES, Rural Fire Service and other community displays.

We would like to thank all our sponsors who help with running Motorfest 23 including our major sponsor, Benny’s Grafton Smash Repairs.

So, if you would like to bring your vintage or classic car to show it off, or just want to have a look at some well-loved and presented pieces of motoring history come along to Motorfest 23 on Sunday August 27 at Jabour Park and help us celebrate our 60th year.
