Coutts Crossing bridges now open

Great news for Coutts Crossing and surrounding communities, with the Coutts Crossing Bridges upgrade now complete and open to the public.

The two bridges on Armidale Road to the north of the village were replaced under the NSW Government funded Fixing Country Bridges program to replace timber bridges with stronger, more resilient concrete structures.

• Timber bridges require regular maintenance, and are more susceptible to flood, fire, wear under heavy traffic and decay.

• Concrete bridges have a design life of 100 years and require minimal maintenance.

A total of $46 million in funding has been secured to replace 36 bridges in the Clarence Valley, of which 19 are now complete. Source: CVC Communications
