A teenage girl reported missing from Yamba earlier this month has been located safe and well by police.

When Taylah Levett, aged 15, was last seen leaving a house at Yamba Road, Yamba, about 7.45pm on Tuesday October 5, and was unable to be located, family contacted Coffs Clarence Police holding concerns for her whereabouts due to her age.

At the time, Coffs Clarence police advised Taylah was known to frequent the Casino, Lismore and Yamba areas.

Two days after Taylah went missing, NSW Police media issued a statement concerning her disappearance.

Then the news that Taylah was missing quickly spread, with newspapers, TV, radio and online media all appealing for information to help find the teen.

Concern escalated on social media with multiple posts about Taylah, including claimed sightings that were proven to be false, attracting hundreds of comments from worried locals.

After 10 days with no update, following enquiries by the Clarence Valley Independent, NSW Police advised Taylah had been found.

“When she was unable to be located, officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District commenced inquiries to locate her,” police said.

A Police spokesperson told the Independent Taylah was sighted by officers therefore was no longer considered missing.

“About 3.15pm on Monday 10 October 2022, she was located in Ballina,” police said.

“Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.”
