Every morning since the Yamba McDonalds restaurant opened its doors in 2010, local resident Betty Sharpe has enjoyed having breakfast and a senior’s discount coffee there. Betty said that she has always loved McDonalds, even going so far as to celebrate her 50th birthday [several years ago], at McDonalds at Fairlight, near Manly in Sydney. “My children would always tell their father to hang on to the steering wheel as we drove past a McDonalds, saying that the car automatically turns into McDonalds for mum.” “I’m a McDonald’s person and that’s it,” she said. “It’s economical and it gives the young people a good job and good training. Last week Betty was the lucky winner of the Clarence Valley Independent Best Buys competition and won herself a $100 voucher to use at one of our April Best Buys Businesses – McDonalds Yamba. Betty said that this was the first time that she had ever filled in anything [to enter a competition]. “I’m ecstatic. I feel like a big kid,” she said. McDonalds Yamba store owner/manager Paul Bews said, “It’s great that Betty, a long standing loyal customer, has won”.
