Maclean Vets golf

We had another record field of 68 starters last Monday September 20 for the second round of the Vets championships. It was a round that was dominated by the ladies as five of the ladies filled the top 8 spots including 1st and 2nd.

Results

The winner, all on her own with 38 points, was Nancy Phillips closely followed by Jeannie Doolan who took out 2nd place with her 37 points. Jeannie beat Phil Hirst in countback so Phil had to settle for the free game voucher.

Club balls went to 34 with Graham Millard, Cathy Parker, Col Harvey and Vero Morgan being the best of these all coming in with 36. Then we had a host of 35s led by Kate Hemmy. Others with 35 were Geoff Grayson, Graham Cox, Miles James, Stephen King (not the writer), Wayne Rae, Patricia Harris and Richard Parker. Finally we had John Carlton. Anthony Turner, Di Moore and Mark Hemmy all finishing with 34 points.

As stated above it was the 2nd round of the Vets championships and after two rounds of intense and exciting golf Geoff Grayson was declared the men’s winner with Richard Parker the runner up and Di Moore the ladies winner with Jeannie Doolan the runner up. Congratulations to these gplfers who had to stave off numerous challenges from many  others in the field.

Also the top eight in this round qualify for the Vets Matchplay championships to be finalised over the next couple of months.
