Our January meeting was held one week earlier due to the Australia Day long weekend. Thirty eight members attended with 10 apologies and one visitor.
The president thanked Lynda Leslie and Sadie Woodroffe for organising and selling Remembrance Day poppies. Around $1000 was raised and this will go to Defence Care to assist in helping ex-service personnel and their families. Following our books being audited we now will be able to donate $15,000 to Defence Care. Some money was held back to pay for the repairs to the club.
The treasurer informed the meeting that he would like to set up a finance committee to go over our books every quarter, Jennifer Noble and Brett Wood volunteered.
Members are reminded that that fees are now overdue and if you are not financial then you cannot attend the AGM and vote. Elections are due this year and it will put in place our executive for the next three years. If you wish to nominate someone you can do it by dropping a note off to the secretary and on it should be nominated and seconded and the nominee must agree to stand, or you can nominate from the floor on the day.
We are looking into flying the Lest We Forget flag at the Memorial in Townsend Cemetery. It has been decided that due to ANZAC Day being two days prior to the April meeting we will not be holding one that month.
