Maclean Rotary book sale a huge success

Capture Lynne Mowbray The Rotary Club of Maclean held its annual monster book sale on Friday and Saturday, at the Maclean Bowling Club. Keen readers lined up outside the club waiting for the doors to open on Friday morning, with their empty shopping bags at the ready, to fill with books. Maclean Rotary Club treasurer Daniel Butt said that around 5000 books were recycled back into the community from the book sale. “Over $2,100 was raised at this year’s book sale – at $6 a bag, which equates to about 350 overstretched shopping bags full of books,” said Mr Butt. “The Clarence Regional Library is our major supplier of books and a significant proportion of the funds raised will be donated back to the library.”
