Maclean Orchid Society ‘Autumn Show’ this month

With our Autumn Show blooming ahead, club members are in preparation mode for the bi-annual event.

Meanwhile, at our March Meeting, 84 lovely plants were benched. Judges’ Choice Orchid, Vanda Eileen Beauty ‘Uno’, Robin Witney. Judges’ Choice Flower, Protea, Sue King. Popular Vote Orchid, Rlc. California Girl ‘Orchidlibrary’, Brian Donaghy. Popular Vote Flower, Hibiscus, Narelle Francis.

Next meeting is Saturday April 17, at the Presbyterian Church Hall, Church Street, Maclean. Our VP Ken Woods will explain the difference between seedlings and mericlones, and how they are written: ie, nomenclature.

Due to restrictions being eased, there is no need for members to pre-register. Plants are benched by 1pm for the judging, then at 1.30pm the meeting begins. Lucky door and raffle prizes are included, plus afternoon tea.

Autumn Show, free admission, at the Maclean Bowls Club for public viewing, on Friday April 30 from 9am-8pm, and Saturday May 1 from 11am to 3pm. A variety of nature’s beauties to admire, and plants for sale.
