Maclean hospital day surgery to remain open

Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSW LHD) chief executive Wayne Jones has quashed rumours circulating around the Lower Clarence, claiming that Maclean District Hospital’s (MDH) day surgery is soon to be closed and replaced with a CT scanning machine. “I wish to refute these rumours and state there is no current plan to close the MDH Day Surgery Unit,” Mr Jones wrote in a response to the Independent’s enquiry. “Northern NSW Local Health District continually revises its health service models of care to ensure the changing needs of a community are met. “Currently, there is no plan in place to cease day surgery at MDH. “As is normal clinical practice, the NNSW LHD will monitor the demand for surgery at Maclean and revise the model of care as opportunities arise in the future.”
