There were nine Club Championship matches played during the past week. In the Open (A) Singles the opponents of one semi-final have been decided with Jim Shannon to play Steve Jackson this Saturday afternoon. The other semi-final will be Johnson against the winner of this Saturdays’ match between Don Plummer and Ross Murphy. Nominations for the Super Vets Pairs will close this Friday July 3. Nominations are now open for this year’s Mixed Fours a sheet is on the noticeboard, the closure date is Friday July 24. The season wind–up get together for this years’ Pennants was held in perfect conditions last Sunday afternoon. The grudge match between Tony’s Stallions and Darryl’s Warriors resulted in a win for the Stallions by 60 to 48. Darryl says his side is a certainty next time. A great day was had by all with a great BBQ with trimmings at the conclusion of proceedings. Thanks to all who attended and worked to make it a fitting end to the season. Our club will host this years’ Zone Pairs Championship play-off in all divisions (State Open, Presidents Reserve & Seniors) this Sunday July 5. These matches will feature the Zones top players so come and witness some great bowlers in action, first rounds in the morning at 9am with the finals in the afternoon at 1pm. On Sunday July 12 our District will travel to Ballina RSL Bowls Club to do battle with our northern neighbouring Districts for the prestigious Johnson/Dignan Shield, which we currently hold.
