Maclean & District Bowls Pennants results

There were seven matches of Club Open triples completed last week. The scheduled final of the ‘C’ Grade Singles was not played on Sunday afternoon because of the rainy weather, it will be re-scheduled when possible. One quarter-final of Club Open Triples has been completed and the other three matches are set down for this Thursday evening for a 5pm start. No matches can be scheduled for the weekend days as Pennants are on Saturday and we have a number of players involved in representative matches at Ballina RSL on Sunday. Nominations for this years’ Club Open Pairs are now open, a sheet is on the board for names. The closing date is Friday April 26 at 5pm. District Pennants first rounds for our grades No 3’s and No 5’s commenced last Saturday. Round 3 was played for the No 6 and No 7 Grades. We had mixed success with good wins in the No 5’s and 6’s but went down in the 3’s and 7’s. This Saturday we have our No 3’s at home to South Grafton. Our 5’s are away to Grafton GDSC. The 6’s away to South Grafton Ex-services and the 7’s away to Iluka. Congratulations to the ten players from our club who have been selected in their respective District representative sides at Ballina this Sunday. They are: (Compass Shield) Rex Wiseman, Ben Lee and Kerry Wells. (Shipp Shield) Gary Scott, John Nash, Tom Cross and Doug Starr. (Shipp Cup) Ron Byrum, Ron Smidt and Jim Shannon.
