It was a quiet week for championships with no matches being played. The final of the Club Minor Pairs was deferred until this Sunday as some players involved were taking part in the Brooms Head Gold Medal Pairs’ tournament. First round matches of the Club Mixed Fours are set down for this Saturday afternoon. For full details see the results section. Nominations for the Club Mixed Triples Championship will close this Friday (August 14) at 6pm, so be quick if you are not already in. Last Sunday morning we welcomed the mixed bowls group from Brisbane’s Wynnum/Manly RSL Club. The weather was kind and a great morning bowls was had by all. Thank you to our bowlers who attended. This weekend will be a busy one with Mixed Championships on Saturday. Then on Sunday morning we have the return visit from the Ballina RSL Bowls Club ‘Sand-flies’ with this year’s Past Presidents day at our club on Sunday afternoon. Names are required from both ladies and men for the afternoon game. Our next mixed trip away has been arranged to Park Beach Club at Coffs Harbour on Sunday August 30. The bus will depart our club at 7.30am on the day. Cost will be $20 per person which includes the Bus trip, morning tea, green fees and lunch. A sheet for names is on the noticeboard.
