Local sporting clubs are encouraged to apply for a grant under the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program when applications open this week. Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis said the aim of the new grants program was to encourage increased and regular ongoing participation in local sport and recreation activities. “We all know the benefits of leading an active lifestyle. It is incredibly important for our health and wellbeing as well as bringing people in the community together. “Funding is available under four categories including upgrading facilities and the purchase of capital equipment. “Applications can also be made to implement training programs to secure more volunteer coaches,” Mr Gulaptis said. Mr Gulaptis said applications open on 26 November 2015 and close 11 February 2016. For more information on the program guidelines and to apply visit www.sportandrecreation.nsw.gov.au.
