The creative team at Live Prawn Productions (LPP), the non-profit arts and cultural event team that operates the Yamba River Markets, is delighted to announce three events for 2016.
Two of the events take place in April during PLUNGE 2016 and both events are fundraisers, but couldn’t be more different in style.
First up is the Australian premiere of an enchanting film depicting Scottish culture and lifestyle in the 20th Century. Made entirely of film archive, From Scotland with Love is a 75-minute film by award-winning director Virginia Heath with a transcendent music score written and performed by Scottish musician King Creosote.
Event organiser Phil Nicholas said, “The film is a journey into the collective past of all people with Scottish heritage and covers themes that will resonate with Maclean residents. I don’t have Scottish roots but when I saw this film on its UK release last year, it really moved me and I knew immediately that people in the Clarence Valley would love it.”
“On Saturday 2 April, we’re going to transform Maclean Civic Hall into a cinema for one night only. This really is quite unique and not to be missed,” Phil said.
The second event is billed as the Secret Garden Party and takes place on Saturday 16 April at Leche Café in Yamba. This mini-festival program
includes several live music acts, spoken word performers, a UK musician performing a song written especially for the event, a hidden disco and even a science quiz.
“The best way to keep up to date with Festival news is on Facebook,” Phil said. “As for this year’s Surfing The Coldstream Festival, that will be on Saturday 15 October. This is my third year as Festival Director and we’ll be consolidating some of the things that worked well in previous years while adding a couple of new dimensions that are likely to turn some heads, “ said Mr Nicholas, “ That’s all I’m saying for now.”
