Last Saturday week saw the running of the LCTA’s Maclean Bowling Club sponsored Jnr Tennis Championships held at Ryan Park Tennis Complex Maclean.
A record number of 47 entries were received for this years tournament held under cool overcast skies which was perfect for the days play. Local coach and Tournament Controller Alan Jurd said that the standard of play was outstanding, with the cool conditions allowing all players to really extend themselves on court.
“The crowds were highly entertained and there was a lot of applause for all players and the high standard of tennis played. We are very appreciative of Maclean Bowling Clubs’ continued support of our club as we continue to break records for membership and player participation in club events.”
“In our red ball comp for new players 9 and under, we had a field of 13 players coming from all over the valley to experience their first event and they had an absolute ball” Mr Jurd said. “They all can’t wait for our big Kids Revenge Day on November 15th, where they get to play with their parents and boss them around, it is an absolute hilarious day of great fun and play”
