Around 60 people turned out at the annual Lawrence ‘Bread and Soup’ day which was held at the Lawrence Hall, on Wednesday, 13 July. Those who attended travelled from Iluka, Maclean, South Grafton and Grafton to support the Lawrence community event. Spokesperson for the soup day, Karen Jackson, said that the event has been going for around 25 years. “It’s a time of community, Christian fellowship, which raises money for the Anglican parish of Grafton,” said Ms Jackson. “This enables our little Anglican Church here in Lawrence to stay open.” The fun and friendship day offered guests 12 different soups, along with eight assorted slices. A monster raffle was also run to help raise funds. Guest speaker for the day was Allan Woods from the Maclean ‘Men’s Shed’, who enlightened those attending on the work of the ‘Men’s Shed’.
