Julie Campbell tops Yamba single Stableford

With the weather continuing to outdo itself and COVID -19 isolation restrictions remaining in place, numbers in our competitions have been fantastic. We can only hope that these numbers continue when life and golf return to normal.

We had 52 players involved last Wednesday, so three grades were in place with some excellent scores recorded. Our Division 1 winner was Kathy Parker (36 points c/b) just edging out Jeannie Doolan on 36 points. In Division 2, Glen Czarnota came in winner with a healthy 38 points ahead of Lyn Rowland who was runner up (36 points). It was great to see Fred McDougall take out the honours in Division 3 (37 points) from Maiva Burnham(35 points). Some consistent scores there, ladies.

Our Wednesday nine-hole winner was Angie Walpole who came in with an amazing score of 22 points. Well done Angie! With a score like that, we hope to be seeing you in the 18-hole competition soon.

Last Friday’s results and scores were very impressive from the 51 ladies who participated. We were all thrilled for Julie Campbell whose 45 points were the highest Yamba Ladies’ Single Stableford score submitted so far this year. There were some other handy scores last week with Sue Scott and Leigh Robertson both scoring in the 40s. Sue’s mid-teen handicap made her score even more notable. Division 1 was obviously won by Sue who came in with 41 points followed by Lee Daley (38 pts). Division 2 was taken out by Julie Campbell (45 pts) from Leigh Robertson (40 pts). Jen O’Neill was the Division 3 winner (38 pts) from Lynne Eke who came in runner up with a score of 36 points c/b.

Following driveway dawn services, ten ladies played on Saturday, adorned with sprigs of rosemary. Jane Bonner was our winner with 33 points from Mary Hogan who was runner up (31 points c/b)just ahead of Jill L Brown.

Congratulations on a great week of golf.
