Last week’s event was a single Stableford played in excellent conditions on a course to match. Well done again to greenkeeper, Doug Turner and his volunteers.

The day was sponsored by Roy Ellery. Always generous with his sponsorship, Roy upped the ante and as well as the normal winning vouchers he included gift vouchers to the winners for his excellent range of wood turned products. Roy has quite a reputation for his excellent range. Well done and many thanks to Roy Ellery.

Winner for the day was, Eric Mitchell, who at age 92 is playing like a proverbial 20 year old. Eric posted the winning score of 42 points which is an outstanding achievement. Unfortunately, Eric was not able to stay back for the winners presentation but was home resting his weary bones and getting ready for the next event. Well done Eric Mitchell, we are all in awe.

Runner up for the day was Jim Cazalet with a great score of 41 points. Jim was as ever very humble and grateful for the extra sponsorship afforded by, Roy Ellery, and noted that he could use the extra generous wood voucher for firewood. Well the house erupted and cheered Roy Ellery for his generosity. Jim Cazalet was obviously joking and made everyone sit up.

NTP’s: 1 / 10 went to Bill Taylor, 6 / 15 was Jim Cazalet and 8 / 17 was Don Brittleiffe. The Roy Ellery 3rd shot on 3 / 12 went to Peter Boulton.

The Barry Robbie Mars Bar and Porcelain Mug went to Brian Kembrey who was happy to keep his score confidential and slip quietly away in ignominy never to be heard of again. But we did manage to get a fine photo of Brian, with his Mars Bar & Porcelain Mug that he will no doubt share with his grandkids for many years to come. Well done Brian.

Runner up for the day was Jim Cazalet, on right receiving his two vouchers from sponsor, Roy Ellery, who chipped in with an extra voucher for his excellent wood gallery collection, all of which he produces and exhibits. Image: Contributed
The Barry Robbie Mars Bar & Porcelain Mug winner Brian Kembrey to hide behind the Mars Bar and stay anonymous, but we managed to catch him in the act. We did not have to remind Brian that you get the Mars Bar & Porcelain Mug for coming in a distant dead set last. Brian fled the scene very quickly. Image: Contributed
