The Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary celebrated its 60th anniversary on Sunday at a luncheon held at the Maclean Services Club. Around 70 people attended the event including Federal member for Page Kevin Hogan and wife Karen and State member for Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis and wife Vicki. The celebration began with Scottish piper Alistair Wallace who led in the Hospital Auxiliary patrons Joyce Bell OAM and Gwen Dowling, who jointly cut the cake. Hospital Auxiliary president Sandra Bradbury welcomed all who were attending and thanked those who had travelled long distances to attend the anniversary event. Entertainment during the luncheon was provided by the U3A Scottish Country Dancers. Over the years the Auxiliary have raised money to purchase equipment for the Maclean Hospital and Community Health. In the last 10 years [2007 – 2017] the Auxiliary has raised [including donations] a massive $915,590.22. Their next fundraising event will be a Mother’s Day morning tea at the Maclean Services Club on May 12, at 10am. The event is $10 per head and anyone wishing to attend can pay at the door. A fashion parade will also be held at the Treelands Drive Community Centre, Yamba, on May 26 and the cost will be $5.
