Hartsuyker pedals for charity

Capture   Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker pushes off on his annual 309km charity bike ride today (Wednesday September 23) from the northern tip of the electorate in Maclean, thanks to principal sponsor BCU in Coffs Harbour. The three-day ride will kick off from the BCU branch in Maclean at 9.30am and end on Friday just after 3pm with a reception at the Macleay Vocational College in South Kempsey. Once again all money raised from the bike ride will go to the Mid North Coast Disabled Surfers Association, Maclean Hospital Auxiliary, Nambucca Men’s Shed and the Macleay Vocational College. “These are terrific causes so I am pleased that BCU agreed again to support the ride. BCU has been the principal sponsor each year of the ride, delivering vital support to local organisations,” Mr Hartsuyker said. The Disabled Surfers Association will use the proceeds this year to help fund a gear trailer and new beach wheelchair for its Surfing for the Disabled program. “I enjoy bike riding, so it made sense to combine one of my favourite past times with a worthy fundraising drive for North Coast community charities,” Mr Hartsuyker said. “Every one of these organisations contributes to their communities, so I am proud to be able to support them through my charity ride.” “Give me a wave of support and it you can, please meet me along the way and make a donation to the ride,” Mr Hartsuyker said. This year’s major ride sponsors are: • BCU • Faircloth & Reynolds • Nestle in Smithtown • McDonalds • HLV Chartered Accountants (offices in Nambucca, Macksville and Urunga)
