Gulmarrad sports stars smash it at PSSA

cvi

Gulmarrad Public School students have started the year with a bang in the sporting arena as they continue to shine representing the school at Zone, Regional and North Coast levels.

Kicking off the year were our super swimmers Jett, Zoe, Ricky and Prea who travelled to Kempsey to compete at the regional carnival. Coming second in the 50 metres freestyle qualified Ricky to continue on to the next level with the North Coast team. The daily training and commitment paid off when Ricky smashed his PB in Sydney with an impressive time of 32.12.

Tenacious tennis player, Kele is no stranger to the game as he took to the court in the Zone trials while our crafty cricketers Zac Q, Will M, Zane, Brad and Josh B headed off to Zone. The batting and bowling combination of Zac and Will saw them travelling to Sawtell for the next round of selections at Regionals.

Soccer stars Reece, Prea, Ricky, Zane, Kele and Will shone at the Zone trials with Prea and Reece playing on in Grafton at the Regionals. Nifty netballers Holly and Molly were awesome at Zone in Lismore and League legends Harrison, Jye, Jayvin and Jake set the field on fire at Zone with Jye and Jake selected to play at Regional.

To be selected to compete at the PSSA is a wonderful achievement, recognising student’s talent and commitment, providing the opportunity to participate at a level not often afforded to children from country areas.

As a school and community we are very proud of our students.
