Pacific Valley Christian School

cvi

It has been lovely to welcome our students back to school for Term 2.  I hope that each of our families have had a refreshing and renewing time together over the school holidays.  I have once again been very pleased to see our students quickly settling back into their learning activities and striving to make the most of their talents and abilities.  We are looking forward to another great term of learning across the whole school.

It was wonderful to see so many of our families join us at various events during Mission Week at the end of last term.  It was a great opportunity for us to spend time together as community and celebrate the goodness of God in our midst.  For those of you who were unable to make it to the presentation by Collett Smart you will be pleased to hear that we are organising another visit from her later in the year.  The feedback from parents and students on her presentation was very encouraging.

During the school holidays final documentation for the new Valley Hope School was completed with the Board of Studies. We are looking forward to final confirmation from them so as to formally launch the new school later in the year.

This week our students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be completing NAPLAN.  The assessments will be taking place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and are a helpful tool for informing our educational practice at Pacific Valley.  We are aware that some of our students are anxious about the tests and we are encouraging them to adopt the approach of intentionally giving their best and to not focus on the final results.

We will be holding Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday the 17th of May between 4:00pm and 8:00pm at the school.  They provide a great opportunity for you to meet with the teachers and discuss the learning progress of your children.  Booking sheets for the evening will be sent home with students early this week.

As a staff we greatly appreciate the privilege of working in partnership with all of our parents and carers.  I am looking forward to seeing all the things that God does in the midst of our school community during this term.  If you have any questions about upcoming events please do not hesitate to contact the office.
