The annual ‘Head of the River’ and ‘Grafton Rowing Club’s annual regattas’ were held on the Clarence River at Grafton on the weekend. Competitors travelled from as far away as New Zealand to compete in what is said to be the last of the great rowing regattas. Huge crowds attended both days of rowing with TSS (The Southport School) taking out Saturday’s ‘Head of the River’ event. Sunday’s Grafton Rowing Club Annual Regatta event saw a total of 18 clubs participating. Rowers paused for a minutes silence at lunchtime on Sunday to pay their respect for former Grafton Rowing Club president Greg Thompson, who passed away recently.
