Grafton CWA August meeting

The last meeting of Grafton CWA was held on August 11.

After the correspondence and Treasurer’s report, Lesley our Agriculture and Environment Officer gave an interesting report about fire ants and the problems that they cause.   Our Cookery Officer Narelle gave us information about Branch cooking days on November 18 and February 17 and catering for the State International Information Day to be held in Grafton on September 16.

Lyn’s Cultural report gave us lots of interesting information about the month of August and also local cultural events. There is an outing planned to Yvonne McSwan’s doll collection on August 25 and also a planned chocolate making demonstration on November 15.

Sandra then gave a brief narrative about her life. Our Handicraft Officer Ruth gave a report which also gave information about the Branch entry of spectacle cases for next year’s group competition. Wendy, our International Officer, thanked us for our donations of stamps and material aid, and read a letter about the world conference of Associated Country Women of the World in Malaysia. She also reminded members about registering for State International Information Day. There was then a discussion about the upcoming CWA Awareness Week September 3-9.

Meetings of Grafton CWA are held on 2nd Friday of each month in the CWA Rooms, cnr Duke and Pound Streets. Morning tea is at 9.30am, followed by the meeting at 10am.

Our next meeting will be on Friday September 8. New members are always welcome. Craft mornings are held on 2nd and 4th Mondays at 9.30am – a good opportunity to get together to do some craft, meet other people, have a cuppa and a chat.
