Grafton Clay Target Club

It was a bright sunny albeit a little hot day for the Grafton Clay Target Club’s usual monthly shoot with six full squads facing up to a 105 target Champion of Champions event. The Champion of Champions is shot from the 18 metre mark and consists of 25 targets each of Double Barrel, Single Barrel and Pointscore plus 15 pair of double Rise. It was obvious that the final results would hinge of the Double Rise segment and local shooter Jeff Lowndes almost made a perfect score of Double Rise only dropping one target in the last pair – 29/30 for Double Rise – a fine effort. This score bounced Jeff to win the Championship Sash with an excellent score of 143/155. Well done to Jeff who has been off shooting for the past few months due to some health issues. Mention should be made too about junior shooter Courtney Watt (Richmond River Club) who won A grade. Courtney took out the State Lady Title and gained entry into the State Team over the recent long weekend at Wagga Wagga – well done Courtney! Results: Champion of Champions Overall: Jeff Lowndes 143/155; AA: 1st Ross Aston 139/155, 2nd Geoff Jacobsen 138/155, 3rd Mark Formaggin 137/155; A: 1st Courtney Watt 139/155, 2nd Paul Farrell 138/155, 3rd Peter Jackson 133/155; B: 1st Jeff Lowndes 143/155, 2nd Don Johnston 129/155,3rd Kevin Aitken 128/155; C: 1st Michael Perkins 109/155, 2nd Paul Davidson 97/155, 3rd D Casbolt 79/155.
