GDSC men’s bowls sees the return of the TNT Tuesday night social bowls. The first week saw some lovely weather and the return of 80 bowlers to the club. There was some very good competition with two new teams being initiated into the game. Winners for Round 1 were 3 Stooges, with the r/up prize going to the birthday boy Jason Ryan’s team, JKR. The Lucky Losers for night one were BOQ. The Abbey Motel resting toucher on Green 1 went to P Goratschow at a time of 20:15, whilst on Green 2 Jacko beat all other to the Clarence Valley Wholesalers resting toucher prize with a time of 18:58. After Round 1 Ken’s, Wanties, Dovetails and one of the new teams, Clacka 2 are all equal on 5 points. Friday saw 40 bowlers at the GDSC enjoying the spring weather. Winners on the day were P Tranter and H Zegerius whilst runners up went to the triples game of D Brown, K Garner and K Landrigan. The day’s Lucky Losers prize was won by B Elder and J Morenought. There were four good bowlers on the day, but the Lickiss Handyman and Home Maintenance resting toucher was won by N Henwood with an early time of 13:13. Wednesday also has 40 players at the GDSC. Winners were R Power (welcome back mate) and J Collins, while the runners up were G Want and R Pym and the Lucky Losers were K Fitzsimmons and I McDonald. In similar fashion to Friday, there were four resting touchers, but there can only be one winner, so the Elizabeth’s Clothing Alterations prize went to T Want with a time of 13:19. There are championship games on this weekend and another RSL ‘get together’ day is fast approaching, so make sure you get in and check the board and while you’re there put your name down for the following Monday.
