GDSC ‘best men’s bowlers’ honoured

Last Saturday July 29 our club held its presentation night of trophies to the winners and runners up of our club Major and Minor Championships for the 2022/23 bowling year. A great night was had by all who attended.

Men’s Handicap Singles: winner – Gregg Maxted; r/up – Chris Lawler.                                             

Men’s Minor Singles: winner – Leith Basset; r/up – Matt Shorten.

Men’s Minor Pairs: winners – Glenn Fuller & Leith Basset; runners up – Neale Holt & Allan Gough.

Men’s Major/Minor Pairs: winners – Matt Shorten & Gregg Maxted; runners up – Des Clarke & Tony Lickiss.

This means we are down to the last eight (quarter finals) in our Major Singles Championship for 2023/24. At the time of writing, three of the four matches will be played this Saturday August 5, with the fourth quarter final being played by prior arrangement on Wednesday August 2. Social bowls

We had forty players on the greens on Friday July 28 with the winners on the day being Ken Foster & Terry Glass; runners up went to Paul Sutton & Gary Ahrens, while the Consolation prize went to John Stacey & Darren Brown. First ‘Resting Touchers’ for the day went to Paul Goratschow on green 1 & Robbie Power on green 2. Our three ‘free game winners’ were Leith Basset, Jeff Fuller & Peter Hooker.
