Members of the GDSC Swimming Club and their guests, celebrated the club’s 43rd annual presentation dinner last Saturday week. A delightful slide show compiled by Jenny Vickery and Debbie Smith, depicting photos of members past and present was screened during the dinner and it was voted a huge success. MC for the night, Kim Dahl, then brought the gathering to silence as trophy winners for the 2015/2016 season were announced. Under 25yrs winner was Tyler Durrington; 40-44yrs Damien O’Mahony; 50-54yrs 1st David Moon, 2nd Bruce Durrington, 3rd Terry Marsh; 55-59yrs 1st Jenny Vickery, 2nd Doug Ensbey; 60-64yrs 1st Steve Donnelly, 2nd Debbie Smith; 65-69yrs 1st Richard Sear, 2nd Wilson Burns, 3rd Ian Goodman; 70 plus yrs 1st Toni Ensbey, 2nd Jill Enks, 3rd Bob Owen. The winner of the final of the Stephen Donnelly Explosive Cup was David Moon and the winner of the Wykes Tyrepower Cup final was Debbie Smith. By this stage of the presentations everyone was having bets as to who would be the recipients of the major awards. The Maurice Chapman Memorial Trophy for application and consistency was presented to a very delighted Debbie Smith. Debbie was chosen for this award because of her eagerness to always attend carnivals, attend monthly meetings, travel from Nymboida every week to compete and always willing to help out wherever possible. Tom Grantham was then called to present the Garry Grantham Memorial Trophy to Club Person of the Year. Unfortunately the recipient of this award, Terry Marsh, was not able to be present as he was hospitalised at Urbenville. However members are certain that Terry would be chuffed at receiving this award in recognition of his assistance with club matters and behind the scene efforts. The Hugh Groom Memorial Trophy for second place getter in the overall point score was awarded to Damien O’Mahony and the Hugh Miller Memorial Trophy for the swimmer with the highest point score for the season was won by Stephen Donnelly who was a good 13 points clear of his opposition. Winner of the Neville “Chopper” Hackett Memorial Shield for the most points scored in the 50 metre event was Tyler Durrington. Toni Ensbey
