Fun day at Grafton Showground

A day of fun and activities was held at the Grafton Showground on Sunday to promote Social Inclusion Week and International Day of People with a Disability. Several activities including face painting, creative sand art, entertainment, market stalls along with community services information were available to assist members of the community. The theme of this year’s inaugural event was Inclusion matters: access and power for people of all abilities. Clarence Valley Councillor and Ability Links worker Jason Kingsley said that the day was organised by the Clarence Valley disability inter-agency with a number of services. “There were 10 different community services represented here,” he said. “This is the first year we’ve celebrated this event which is to promote social inclusion week and International Day of People with a Disability.” “We believe we have received traction from this year’s event and now have a good foundation to build on for future years.”
