Ferry users get 24/7 updates

Users of the Lawrence and Ulmarra ferries are now better informed with the launch of a 24-hour text message service for the latest information about operations and service disruptions.

Transport for NSW Director North Region Anna Zycki said SMS notifications have been expanded for both ferries, meaning ferry users will receive updates regardless of the time of day. “The previous service sent notifications during business hours on weekdays and was very well received by customers,” Ms Zycki said. ”We think they will be even happier this has now been extended, offering up-to-date information any time of the day and night.

“Our customers understand ferries need to be taken offline for maintenance and that breakdowns happen occasionally, so these notifications will help them to plan their journeys and avoid unnecessary delays. “Transport for NSW will let customers know via SMS if a ferry goes out of service and, in most cases, how long the stoppage is likely to take. “The SMS notifications will also let them know when the service returns.”

Customers who have previously registered to get SMS notifications of ferry operations will continue to receive them. Customers now wishing to receive the SMS notifications should advise if they want to be added to the Lawrence or Ulmarra ferry list, or both, by submitting their mobile number via email to: Region.North@transport.nsw.gov.au or by calling 02 6640 1331.
