The distribution of preferences to determine the elected candidate for each district in NSW during the 2023 State Election was formally declared on April 13 by the NSW Electoral Commission.

The Nationals candidate and the newly elected Member for Clarence, Richie Williamson, joined staff at the Election Manager’s premises in Queen Street, Grafton, for the official Declaration of the Poll last week.

As the final numbers were revealed, showing Mr Williamson had accumulated 24247 votes, a total of 49.5 percent, the Member for Clarence also took the opportunity to acknowledge staff for their hard work and contributions throughout the past several weeks.

While he described the result as a good win for the Nationals, Mr Williamson conceded there is a lot of work to be done ahead of the next state election to ensure the Coalition is returned to Government.

The electorate of Clarence has been held consistently by the Nationals since 2003.
