Karla Lewis, Eva MacNamara, Bethany Chambers, Duncan Gray, Evie Rae, Isla Gray, Alysia Lee, Audrey Rae, Alice Davis, Wade Edgerton, Gabrielle Chambers, and Caleb Edgerton, along with teachers Sandy Edgerton and Janet Gray, are off on the adventure of a lifetime.

The group of jazz dancers, including one vocalist from Maclean, have been chosen to travel to the USA this week to perform at Disney World, after impressing the selection panel with their style, elegance, and choreography, through previously submitted footage of recent rehearsals and performances, demonstrating their phenomenal skills and talent.

They will join other dance groups from Brisbane and Adelaide and perform a 25 minute specially choreographed set created by Disney officials on stage at the Animal Kingdom Theme Park in front of thousands of spectators.

It will also be the first overseas journey for several members of the group, and after months of preparation and plenty of practising, their excitement is bigger than the whole Disney franchise.

“We’ve not done anything like this before,” Ms Gray explained.

“It’s all very exciting, especially for the kids who haven’t travelled overseas before.

“It’s going to be an amazing opportunity for all of them.”

For the past nine months, the group have been working hard perfecting their techniques and maintaining regular contact with Disney officials to ensure their choreography is industry approved for live performances.

“Disney have been amazing to work with the whole way through,” Ms Gray said.

“And their choreography is world class.

“We’ve been submitting video footage of our rehearsals and receiving feedback from Disney if they want any changes, or anything introduced to the routine.

“There has been a lot of hard work involved, but we would do it all again in a heartbeat.

“Everyone has been talking about the things they want to do at Disney World.

“We’re going to be there for eight days, and we’ve all picked out different things we would like to do.

“I would love to see the Star Wars set up at Disney World, but the whole experience is going to be amazing.”

Following their performance at Disney World this week, the group will head to New York for five days to attend workshops at the Broadway Dance Centre before returning to Australia in early August.
